Vodun Days

Ouidah's great Vodun celebration: eight days of ceremonies, concerts and rites, and the week when finding a bed between Ouidah and Cotonou becomes very hard.

Every early January, Vodun Days draws tens of thousands to Ouidah, around the Door of No Return, the Python Temple and the sacred forest of Kpassè. The organisers announce the 2027 edition from 2 to 9 January.

Ouidah is a forty-minute drive from Cotonou. Many visitors sleep in Cotonou and travel in for the day: there are more homes, comfort is more reliable, and you come back at night to a quiet, guarded home with water and power.

We hold homes for that week every year. They go early: write to us as soon as your dates are set, we lock the home with a deposit and arrange transport to Ouidah.
