From Abuja · Nigeria

Abuja to Cotonou.

Ninety minutes in the air, no visa, and a French-speaking coastal city where a large apartment costs what a room costs in Abuja. The simplest weekend out of the federal capital.

The journey

By air, often connecting through Lagos depending on the day. On arrival, Cadjèhoun airport is fifteen minutes from most of our addresses. By road it is over seven hundred kilometres and a full day: flying is the right call.

The visa

ECOWAS citizens: no visa for Benin. Other nationalities apply for the electronic visa.

The money

Benin uses the CFA franc (XOF), not the naira: plan the exchange. We accept Mobile Money, card and bank transfer, and our rates are published in FCFA with no surprise conversion.

Hotel or furnished home?

For a work trip, a delegation or a family stay, a whole home with a kitchen, a guardian and a concierge reachable around the clock beats a hotel floor — and costs less from the second room on.

Common questions

Do I need a visa from Abuja to Cotonou?
ECOWAS citizens, Nigeria included, need no visa for Benin. A valid identity document is enough; other nationalities apply for Benin's electronic visa.
Is English spoken in Cotonou?
Benin is French-speaking, but our concierge answers in English as readily as in French, by phone and on WhatsApp, around the clock. You will never have to argue about a water cut in French.
