From Cotonou

Everything starts from Cotonou: Porto-Novo is under an hour away, Ouidah an hour by road, Grand-Popo and Possotomè an hour and a half to two hours, Abomey two and a half hours, Parakou a full day's drive or just over an hour's flight with Amazone Airlines. Léna Escapes arranges the driver, the hotel, the guide and the visits.

Good to know

Southern and central Benin are under heightened vigilance (France Diplomatie, 2026). France advises against all but essential travel to central Atacora, including Natitingou, and to a strip from Kandi to Tchaourou via Nikki, and against all travel to the Pendjari and W parks and the borders with Burkina Faso and Niger: those areas are not in this guide. Swimming is not advised along the coast at any time of year because of the surf and currents. Best season: November to March in the south, October to May in the north.
