From Montréal · Canada
Montréal to Cotonou.
Benin's Quebec diaspora comes home mostly in December — the moment Cotonou is at its liveliest and its fullest. Book early and we handle the rest.
The journey
By air, connecting through Europe or North Africa. Allow fifteen to twenty hours door to door depending on the connection. Someone meets you at Cadjèhoun, fifteen minutes from our homes.
The visa
Electronic visa to request before leaving.
The money
CFA franc (XOF), not Canadian dollars. Card, bank transfer and Mobile Money accepted; our rates are published in FCFA.
Hotel or furnished home?
When you come home for three weeks with the children, a hotel makes no sense. A house with a kitchen, a yard and cleaning on request, and a concierge who arranges the driving and the family visits.
Where to stay in Cotonou
Common questions
- Do I need a visa for Benin?
- Yes, outside ECOWAS. Benin issues an electronic visa, applied for online before departure: it is quick and there is no embassy visit. Bring your yellow-fever vaccination card too, it is checked on arrival.
- When should I book for December?
- Six to eight weeks ahead, and more for three bedrooms and up. After mid-November there is almost nothing large left in Cotonou. A deposit is enough to hold the home.
Tell us your dates
We answer in French or English, and the home is held as soon as the deposit lands.
